Consistency Wins – Get help and stay focused

Can you be at the top of the mountain with one big step? It is not possible, right? But with the small steps, you can reach to the peak point of the mountain. It may take time to get there, we may feel tired, but with each step, we will be closer to the summit of the mountain. This is another reminder that we cannot do everything at once.   We need to take consistent small actions to achieve our big goals. Otherwise, we may feel overwhelmed and frustrated. So, being consistent is one of the key skills that we all need to learn and do well.

Another key action is training and improving ourselves in the areas that contribute to reaching our goals. For example, I always wanted to run with my husband on the weekends, but I never ran in my life more than 1km, and I was not confident enough. Back in May, we decided to try, and early Saturday mornings we went to the park. At first, I ran and walked, but still completed the 3km in the end. Each weekend I got better, and over the past 4 weeks I was able to run 3 km without walking and stopping. This was one of my new year resolutions, and I’m very happy that I have already accomplished it.

Also, learning new skills can contribute to our success as well. It may seem pricy, but I developed a different mindset about the money I spend on my training.  One of my good friends taught me that each penny I spend for my personal and professional development is not a cost.  It is an investment because it will pay back more than its cost. So, we should not hesitate to spend money to learn new skills, purchase books, join workshops, join a gym or eat organic. Whatever we want to accomplish, we can by working hard, getting help and being consistent.

Also, another great way to see how far we come is to track our progress. In this way, we will have a reminder to show us our hard work.  Having this visual reminder can give us strength when we are feeling discouraged.

We can also write a journal; it is a great way to empty our mind, and see the progress we have made. It is one of the best therapies according to University of Wisconsin–Madison.  Writing a journal has many other benefits. It helped me a lot. Especially when I read it again, it makes me feel stronger and happier.

I hope you can try and see how much these steps help you to stick to your goals and to achieve them.

The Importance of Prioritizing for your Success

Prioritization is one of the most important skills that can help us to improve our personal and professional lives. Also, it is our third step that will help us achieve our goals.

Until now, we explained how to set goals, and how to create a vision board. At this point, we should have some ideas and goals in our mind that we wanted to accomplish. If we are not sure where to start, we may need to put our goals in order.  This is where we need to apply prioritization skills in our process. We can’t do all the things we want at once, so we need to focus on the goals that matter the most to us, the goals which have the highest impact and importance for our life,  the goals which can create a ripple effect in our lives, and help us to get closer to our other goals as well.

For example, one of my most important and long-term goals are creating a well-organized and uncluttered lifestyle. Because I am well aware of that if I have a well-organized and uncluttered life, I can see many more improvements in my personal and professional life. I will add some of them below.

Having an uncluttered and organized life:

  • Makes me feel happier and more energetic – having in my life only what I need – no more clutter
  • Lowers stress level – no more wasting time to search for my keys, wallet, and bag
  • Improves my relationship at home – no more frustration since I started to declutter all the unnecessary things that I have around me
  • Frees up my schedule and mind – having more clarity in my life – no more wasting time among the options that do not matter
  • Creates awareness of the things that I really want and need – no more shopping just because there is a sale
  • Improves our overall lifestyle –- It has a huge positive ripple effect in our life
  • Improves sleep quality – ‘Less is More’- We feel better, live better and sleep better

Also, there are other known proven health benefits that you can read from the article called  ‘Why Decluttering Is Good for Your Health.’

I believe that once decluttering and organizing becomes part of our life we will see many other benefits as well. And I will move forward with my other goals that are on my list such as creating a healthy morning and evening routine. I guess I do not need to mention how worthwhile it will be already having an organized life to accomplish these two goals.

I hope you can come up with your top 3 goals that can create a ripple effect and help you in more than one area of your life.

The Second Step is Creating your Vision Board

One of my favorite goal-setting steps is creating a vision board. The vision board can be a board where you add the pictures of the events, situations, and material things that you want to have in your life. In other words, it includes all the pictures of your goals.

Your vision board shows you the images of the things you want to achieve. This will create clarity in your mind, and it will be a great visual reminder of your goals. As we all know ‘A picture is worth a thousand words.

My husband and I started to make a new vision boards a few weeks ago. As you see from the pictures, we gathered all the magazines we had, lit the candles and got a cup of hot tea. After preparing everything we need, such as scissors, tape, and glue, we went through all the magazines to find the pictures for our vision boards. Also, you can google the images of the goals you have in mind and print them, or draw them. It may take several days to complete, but it is a nice and enjoyable activity. It is a living project; you can add new ideas, or adjust some of your goals. There is no right or wrong.

We could not complete our vision boards yet. Hopefully, we will complete them this weekend.  Here is my husband’s first vision board, and I am very proud of him 😊. Once I complete mine, I will share it too.
